Skiing holiday USA - New accommodation only catered ski chalets, Colorado

Catered ski chalets in the USA have always been few and far between, as the catered chalet concept still hasn't been fully embraced by the American market. Last year Crystal ski holidays one of the largest tour operators closed all their catered chalets in North America, leaving much less capacity in the market. For the Brits and Europeans who love the hassle free catered ski chalet holiday that really left only a few catered chalets to choose from, many of which are mainly available with a package deal.

Chalets USA caters for independent travellers from the UK, Europe, Australia or indeed ex-pat Brits living in the US and around the world, who are happy to book their own flights, giving them choice of airport, flight time and the opportunity to use their airmiles or include additional destinations in their trip.

This year Chalets USA wanted to increase their offering on catered ski chalets for these independent holidaymakers and have now added 7 new catered ski chalets to their portfolio, including 2 in Aspen where they haven't had chalets before:

The 2 Aspen chalets are called Chalet Lupine (6 bedroom) & Chalet Rio Grande (5 bedroom) and can be booked by the room or guests can take sole occupancy of the whole chalet. Chalet Rio Grande is in a great location, just 10-15 minutes walk from the town centre of Aspen.

In Vail guests can now choose from 2 chalets in East Vail: Chalet Wildwood (4 bedroom) and Chalet Eagle's Retreat (new this year) has 5 bedrooms.

In Breckenridge, Chalet Tomahawk is a large 7 bedroom chalet, which sleeps up to 22 people and is perfect for groups with its lounge / dining room with pool / billard table & games bar with Black Jack, Roulette, Poker, Craps, plus separate games room with table tennis, table football & dartboard, as well as an outdoor hot tub & sauna. The other new Breckenridge chalet is Chalet Victoria which has 4 bedrooms and has a homely feel and is just a short walk from Main Street, Breckenridge and the shops, bars & restaurants.

Founders Cabin in Winter Park is a high rated chalet, with 4 bedrooms, right in the town of Winter Park and just a 5-10 minute bus ride to the slopes.

All these new chalets include breakfast, afternoon tea and a 3 or 4 course meal with wine 6 nights out of 7.

Waiting for your ski holiday in the USA? Colorado is ready for you!

It has been a long 7 months since the lifts closed mid April on the 2008/9 ski season, but now Summer is well & truely over and the lifts are opening.

Minor resorts in Colorado, Loveland and Arapahoe, who always fight to be the first resort to switch on their lifts, have been open since the first week of October.

This week it's the turn of the major resorts to get moving ready for the Thanksgiving crowd next week. Breckenridge opened last Saturday November 14,  2009, Winter Park opened November 18, 2009 and Vail opened yestereday Friday November 20, 2009.

Breckenridge currently has 6 lifts and 7 major trails open on Peak 8 including top to bottom runs from the Peak 8 lift. Breck doesn't just have green and blue runs open, they've also opened Dukes and Spruce blue - black runs and Callie's Alley a short fun black run, so plenty of terrain for everyone.

Winter Park has just a couple of lifts and runs on the go, but is working hard to get lower Hughes open this weekend with more terrain to follow.

In Vail the lifts from Lionshead are open - The Born Free Express (#8) is open for access to Born Free trail, and the Eagle Bahn Gondola (#19) for access to Chair 15 and the beginner area at Eagle’s Nest. The Marketplace at Eagle’s Nest will be open for lunch. There will not be skiing or snowboarding from the Gondola, only access to Eagle’s Nest and the Chair 15 area, with downloading required afterward. Guests will be able to ski or snowboard back to Vail Village from Born Free, but there will be no lift access out of Vail Village.

Each day more terrain is expected to open up and we'll be keeping track of the terrain and lift status on a regular basis.

At Chalets USA we are also gearing up for the season with many chalets and self-catered accommodation booked up, especially at peak times. With the snow falling and the resorts opening if you haven't booked your USA ski holiday yet, now's the time to do it! Look for our specials at http://www.chalets-usa.co.uk/special-offers-deals-promotions-discounts-usa.htm and find gorgeous accommodation at http://www.chalets-usa.co.uk/

It's going to be a fabulous 2009/10 ski season for ski holidays in the USA. The Colorado resorts are ready, Chalets USA is ready. Are you?

New Skiing holidays with Chalets USA

Since the snow stopped flying at the end of last ski season, Chalets USA have been very busy adding new skiing holidays for the 2009/10 ski season both in our hometown of Winter Park and in some of the other fantastic resorts in Colorado, USA.

Economic conditions have meant that Crystal Ski Holidays have pulled out of the ski chalet market in the USA and Canada and well known tour operator Ski All America has shut its doors permanently.

We, at Chalets USA, want to make sure guests still have a chance to experience the fantastic snow conditions and service offered in USA ski resorts and so we have been expanding our range of accommodation options to make up for the reduction in supply from the other guys.

Take a look at our new chalets in Breckenridge : Chalet Chloe can be booked by room or the whole chalet and Boulder Chalet is a brand new ski chalet with 6 bedrooms and is booked on a whole chalet basis.

Blue Spruce Chalet is a great option for groups who want a luxury chalet in Vail and we have a new option in Winter Park Resort called Sawmill Station, which can be a catered or self-catered chalet. For the budget conscious skier we have introduced Hi Country Haus in Winter Park, which are 1, 2 or 3 bedroom self-catered apartments in the heart of the Town of Winter Park.

For those who want total luxury and pampering Steamboat Springs is the place to go. New chalets this year include Friendly Fox Chalet which has 5 bedrooms, traditional living room, dining room kitchem, plus rec room with pool table & a separate family room with table tennis, a really fantastic place to play. River Queen Chalets are also a new addition. These 4 bedroom homes can be booked separately or together to accommodate groups of up to 23 people.

These chalets can be self-catered or you can choose from 2 catering options. The full service option includes everything you could wish for - complimentary chauffeur airport pick up from Hayden airport, hors d'oeuvres, gourmet meals and an on call complimentary shuttle service to take you wherever you please and mobile phone to call them with. The economy catered service was designed for those who still want some pampering, but want good value in these troubled times and includes meals & shared chalet shuttle.

Lots going on and lots more to come. We are currently working on new skiing holidays in Vail, so watch this space there's more to come!
